Bartolomeo J. "Buddy" Simone

Bartolomeo J. “Buddy” Simone, 91 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at UMass Medical Center.

Buddy was born in Worcester on October 7, 1929 and grew up on Shrewsbury Street.  He was a son of the late Vito and Mary (Baldino) Simone.  He served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army where he was the recipient of a Korean War Service Medal with Three Battle Stars and a United Nation Service Medal.  He worked in the maintenance department for the Worcester Housing Authority for 22 years retiring in 1993.  Buddy previously worked for the Worcester Laborers Union for many years.  He was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.  Buddy was also a member of the Eastside Improvement Club, American Legion Post 201 and Post 3, the Greendale Men’s Club and the Biscee Club. He enjoyed gardening, stone masonry, the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Simone (Bourret) Simone; two daughters, Marie E. Simone and her boyfriend, Marek Filewicz and Diane E. Simone all of Worcester; a sister, Aurelia Coleman of Worcester; many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by three brothers, Domenic “Snooky” Simone, Vito “Hank” Simone, Jr. and John Simone; a sister, Mary Fisher.

Buddy’s funeral service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.  A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 10^th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
