Betty (Sundman) Marcimo

January 10, 1929 — January 31, 2025

Shrewsbury

Our Mother, aka Gram Betty and a Great- Grandmother, Betty Victoria (Sundman) Marcimo went to meet the Lord on January 31, 2025. Born in Worcester on January 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walfred and Martha Sundman.

Betty graduated from the former Major Beal High school in Shrewsbury where she met the love of her life, our Dad “Bobby”, they married after graduation and settled into the house her beloved Bobby built for her in Shrewsbury where she lived until this past November.

A devoted wife, her world was Shattered when our Dad a Shrewsbury firefighter suffered a major heart attack while fighting a fire and subsequently died a few years later. Knowing that life goes on, our Mother did the very best she could continuing to raise our youngest brother Jay from which developed a beautiful loving bond and best friendship. Tragedy struck again when our beloved Sister Bev passed suddenly in 2016.

A self proclaimed “Stubborn Swede”, she lived life on her own terms with her strong constitution and beliefs. A lover of skating, she was an excellent novice figure skating in her younger years and that love continued as an avid fan of competition on tv. She was a Red Sox and Patriots fan proudly donning their shirts.

A lover of fashion and knickknacks, shopping was a favorite, especially at the Christmas tree shop. She had a lot of fun traveling with a local church group to Atlantic City and Vegas. Her daily breakfast at Friendly’s on Grafton St. gave her a nice social time where she met many friends, both staff and customers. Always a pop culture mom of the times, her love of music, especially Elvis and Neil Diamond brought her to their concerts. Her yearly Beach vacations to Ogunquit brought much happiness and fond memories.

She leaves to cherish in memory, her daughter, Nancy (Ched) whom she lovingly claimed to be her boyfriend , Sons, Jeffrey and Jay, Grandchildren Jennifer (James) Jordan, Taryn (Tom) Marchetto, Nick Latino, Brett (Sarah) Marcimo and Brooke Marcimo, Great grandchildren twins Blake and Bryce Marchetto, Caleb Latino, newest addition to our family Bella Sophia Marcimo , Son-in-law, James Latino, Several cousins and her cherished friend from high school Phyllis Benoit.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Entire staff at Holy Trinity, nursing and rehabilitation center for their loving care to our Mom.
