Beverly A Verdolino

September 2, 1948 — March 17, 2021

Beverly A. Verdolino, 72 of Shrewsbury formerly of Virginia and Worcester, passed away peacefully with family gathered at her side Wednesday March 17, 2021 after a valiant struggle with Cancer. 

Born in Worcester on September 2, 1948, one of two daughters of Modesto and Elvira “Vera” (Franchi) Verdolino.   She graduated from North High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in business from Worcester State College.  Shortly after graduating she began a 36-year career with National Grid, retiring in 2003 as Customer Service Supervisor.   Beverly then moved to Virginia to be with her sister, JoAnn.  They both returned to Shrewsbury three years ago. 

Beverly is survived by her sister JoAnn Verdolino and her best friend whom she considered a sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Rourke all of Shrewsbury: eight nieces and nephews, Nicole and Eric Anderson, Dylan, Kelly, C.J., Riley, Shay, and Lucas Rourke; Extended family members including Pauline Rourke, James, Daniel, Christopher and his wife Jennifer Rourke; cousins and many friends.   Three extended family members, Paula, William and Michael Rourke all predeceased her. 

Beverly was a member of St Mary’s. Church.  A diehard and knowledgeable sports fan, who could normally be found in front of her large screen TV, remote in hand watching several sports contests all playing at the same time.  A woman who loved to travel, Beverly has visited and explored many destinations throughout the world.  The Matriarch of her family, Beverly always made sure her family had the best of everything, her nephews and nieces especially her godchild Riley had a special bond with her.  Special occasions, holidays, birthdays or any time she could be with her family were those special moments in her life she treasured.   Beverly was lovingly called by her family as the “Queen”

Her celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be held Wednesday, March 24th at 11:00 am in St Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street Shrewsbury.  Entombment next to her mother will follow in St John’s Mausoleum.  There are no calling hours. COVID restrictions of Masks and social distancing will be required in church.   In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to The Rose Monahan hospice Residence, care of the Visiting Nurse Association, 120 Thomas St Worcester, Ma.   The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.  Live streaming of Mass will be available Wednesday March 24, at www.mercadantefuneral.com/liveservices beginning at 10:50 am.
