Beverly M. (LaMere) Goodney, 84, formerly of Boyce Street in Auburn, died Thursday afternoon, December 21,2023, at Life Care Center of Auburn after a long illness.
She was born in Worcester, August 11, 1939, to the late Girard & Margaret (Langton) LaMere. She attended Canterbury Street School and South High, where she enjoyed playing on the Girls Basketball and Softball teams.
In June of 1960 she married her husband of 61 years, John R. “Jack” Goodney, who predeceased her on February 25, 2022. They resided in various places while starting their family, finally settling in on Boyce Street in Auburn in 1967.
She had several jobs while raising 4 children and retired after 25 plus years with the Visiting Nurses Association.
Besides Basketball and Softball she enjoyed roller skating, playing golf, and was a member of several candlepin bowling leagues. She loved camping with family and friends, trips to the ocean, winters in St. Petersburg, and attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her greatest joy was being “Mom” & “Nanny”, roles she took seriously and carried on with due diligence until she was no longer able.
She will be sorely missed by her four children; Mark Goodney of Worcester, Traci Trudell of Spencer, Kelly Goodney–Germain, and Lee Goodney, both of Webster, four grandchildren; Aly, Olivia, Lexi, and Michael, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Life Care Center of Auburn.
Service and burial will be at a later date.
