Brian K. Thorin, Sr. 57 of Worcester passed away with his loved ones by his side, September 6, 2021, at The Meadows in Leicester, Ma after a valiant and courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born September 3, 1964 to the late Lydia (Menard) Thorin & Robert Thorin Sr., he lived in the Worcester area his entire life raising his two children with his treasured 1st wife Maureen of nearly thirty years. After her passing in 2013, Brian was fortunate in finding love again with Clothilda and adding her six children to love and cherish as his own. He is survived by his second wife, Clothilda J. (Baines) Thorin; A son, Brian K. Thorin, Jr. and his fiancé Emma of Spencer, a daughter, Cynthia Thorin, and her significant other Ramon Guerro of Worcester; a brother, Joseph Thorin, and his wife Stephanie of Worcester; a brother-in-law Perry Madison of Worcester; six grandchildren, Paige and Giovanni Guerro, Janny, and Jannelys Velez, Arnaldo and Anaelis Torres and six stepchildren Elizabeth, Felix, Nelly, Luis, Marilyn and Roberto Lozada. Many nieces, nephews including Tina, Stephanie, Crystal, Dorothy, Nicole, Joseph and Bryanna and extended family and friends, his special longtime friends Keeth, Melissa and Mark. In addition to his wife and parents, a grandson Brian Keith Thorin III, three brothers, George Bigwood, Robert and William Thorin, and three sisters, Lorraine Mason, Deborah Begner, and Shirley Madison, all predeceased him. He served in the 1st Battalion, 181st infantry company, notably making the cover of the Army newspaper the "Army times" performing a mission. Brian worked with the Allied Van Lines, Golden Pizza and finally as head of security for Atlantic Security Company before retiring due to illness. Brian enjoyed fishing, reading, and writing poetry, woodworking, the New England Patriots, Red Sox, walking and hiking, vacation in Hampton Beach, but especially the time spent with his family and friends. A doting grandfather, he embraced each with love and joy. A favorite saying of Brian’s, he often said to his loved ones, “ I love you always and forever to the moon and back to infinity and beyond”. A man who faced many challenges in his life, he overcame each obstacle handed to him, making him a stronger man for it. He volunteered at the Veteran home in Gardner and the 5k for recovery and addiction association. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers who helped Brian live three years with courage, grace and dignity. Namely James Lindberg Md and Pamela Lane NP of UMass Memorial Health, Melissa and John of Ascend Hospice, the friends he made at The Meadows including his special friend Patty, The Ron Foley Foundation and The Pancreatic Cancer Alliance. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, September 13th from 4 to 6 pm followed by a prayer service and military honors at 6 pm, in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be private.
