Camillo "Cam" Quitadamo

March 8, 1927 — December 13, 2021

Camillo J. “Cam” Quitadamo, 94,  a life-long resident of Worcester and devoted husband, father and friend passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, after a prolonged period of declining health.

Cam a member of the “Greatest Generation” who served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, was born in Worcester, one of six children of Pasquale and Josephine (Fenio) Quitadamo. He joined the Coast Guard, after graduating from Commerce High School, serving his country proudly during World War II.   In 1957, Cam married, Constance M. “Tina” DeAngelis in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. They settled in the home, Tina grew up in and spent the next 53 years, devoted to each other and their sons there, until Tina passed away on October 27, 2010.  

Cam worked over 40 years as a supervisor/foreman for the Massachusetts Electric Company, retiring as underground wiring department manager.

Cam is survived by his devoted son, Mark A. Quitadamo, who dedicated his life to caring for his father,  Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Cam and Tina tragically, lived through a period of life no parent wants. In February of 1977, they lost the life of their son, John in a car accident. In addition to his parents, wife Tina and son John, three brothers, Arthur M, Pasquale J., and Ralph J, Quitadamo and two sisters,  Antoinette Connors, and Virginia Monfreda, all predeceased him.

Cam was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A founding member, dedicated volunteer, function chair, co-chairman and former treasurer of the Eastside Post 201, American Legion. A devoted family man, Cam found so much enjoyment in caring impeccably for his yard and garden, as well as his neighbors and residents of Prentice Street in Worcester.  He had a huge heart and would help anyone who asked or needed anything.   

Mark would like to extend a special thanks to Carolyn and Joseph Borelli, Elaine and Cliff Cronin for spending time every Sunday morning bringing coffee and donuts to Cam at the nursing home. 

A period of calling hours will be held Sunday, December 19th from 1 pm to 4 pm followed by a prayer service  and Coast Guard military honors at 4 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial in St John Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Cam’s name can be made to the Activities fund, care of the Christopher House,  10 Mary Scano Dr. Worcester 01605.  Members of the Eastside Post 201, will meet at 3 pm in the funeral home to conduct their ritual.
