Carl William Gentry, Jr.

Carl William Gentry, Jr., 77, of Bradenton, FL and Brooklyn, CT formerly of Pomfret Center, CT, passed away Monday, January 8th, 2024, in Bradenton surrounded by family. 

Born in Boston, Carl was the son of Carl W. Gentry, Sr. and Ida “Mary” (Annacone) Gentry.   Carl was the VP of Information Technology at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT before retiring.  Carl devoted his life to his family.

He leaves his wife of 15 years, Lizabeth L. (Lewis) Gentry; his loving children from his 29 year marriage to his predeceased wife, Maureen C. (Gannon) Gentry:  Carleen Marie Gentry of Newton, MA, Marlena Marie Tedisky and her husband Bryan of Pomfret Center, CT and Matthew William Gentry of Framingham, MA; two grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”, Isabelle Tedisky and Aliyah Gentry; his mother, Ida “Mary” Gentry,  his brother, Richard Gentry and his partner, Maureen of Saco, ME, and sister, Elaine Arion and her husband Ed of Excelsior, MN; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.  In addition to his father and his first wife, Maureen, a brother, Robert also predeceased him.  

Carl’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Thursday, January 18th, 2024, in St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA.  Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Jimmy Fund, care of Dana Farber Cancer institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN.  the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. is honored to assist the family with arrangements
