Carlos Miguel Cruz, 44, of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 8, 2021. He is reunited in Heaven with his long-time partner, Maria Angelica Collazo, who predeceased him in April 2019.
Carlos is survived by four sons, Juan A. Cartegena of Colorado Springs, CO, Carlos R. Cruz, Sincere M. Cruz, and Tristan J. Cruz; his mother, Ana M. Cruz; his father and step-mother, Jose and Cheryl Perez, all of Worcester; three brothers and three sisters, Javier Peña of Sunderland, MA, David Perez, and Jason Merhib, both of Worcester, Tania Perez of Amherst, MA, Iliana Guivas of Webster, and Keila Moreno of Wilbraham; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Jose Cruz. Carlos has called Worcester home for his entire life.
Carlos worked as a PCA at UMass Hospital for the past several years and was working on getting more education in the healthcare field. Before joining the hospital, Carlos worked for many years as a painter with Starvos Painting. He loved cooking and grilling and being surrounded by his loving family.
Calling Hours will be on Sunday, May 16, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
His Funeral will be on Monday, May 17, starting at 10 a.m. Rock of Salvation Pentecostal Church, 829 Main Street, Worcester (please go directly to church). Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
Social Distancing protocols and the use of face masks will be practiced at the funeral home and church.
