Carmen A. Santiago, 82, of Worcester, the family matriarch, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.
Carmen is survived by the family she cherished, including seven children, Elba Corrente, Hector Baez, both of West Warwick, RI, Marco Saez, Judith Maldonado, and Milagros Rivera, all of Worcester, Marta Saez Santiago, and Juan Ferrer, both in Florida; her siblings, Ramon Santiago, Lucy Vidot, Milagros Santiago, and Lucminada Ramos, all in Puerto Rico, Auria Santiago in FL, Migdalia Santiago in CT, Anna Santiago, and Mirium Maldonado, both of Southbridge, and Lydia Santiago of Baltimore; thirty grandchildren; sixty-six great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Conrad Saez and Armando Saez. She was also predeceased by four siblings, Armando Santiago, Ramona Santiago, Angel Santiago, and Auria Santiago. Carmen was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late, Marciano Santiago and Ramona Cintron.
Carmen was the matriarch and center of her family. She loved to cook, sing, talk to her plants and dance throughout the house. She focused her life of giving to her family and took great joy in raising and imparting goodness in all of them.
Calling Hours will be on Sunday, December 15, from 4 pm until 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral Service will be on Monday, December 16, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
