Carmine "Bucky" M. Zicaro

Carmine M. “Bucky” Zicaro, 85, of Worcester, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 3, 2025. 

Loving and devoted husband of 62 years to MaryAnn (Lombardozzi) Zicaro, beloved father to Angela (Bill) Masiello and Christine (Ted) Vitelli, cherished brother to Rosemary Kucharsky, best Grandfather in the world to William Carmine Masiello and Jonathan Ralph Masiello; cousin and uncle to many Zicaro’s, Ferraiuolo’s and Lombardozzi’s. 

Bucky was a reliable friend to many and those friendships spanned almost his entire lifetime. Born in Worcester, MA in 1939 to Angelo and Mary (Ferraiuolo) Zicaro, Bucky graduated from Commerce High School. It was during those years where he fell in love with MaryAnn, who would turn out to be the love of his life. It was also during this time that he discovered a passion for all things related to cars. 

He then enlisted in the US Coast Guard before joining the brotherhood to become a firefighter for the City of Worcester where he served on Engine 7. Bucky served a total of 42 years as a firefighter. During his years in the department, Bucky developed a passion for restoring vintage automobiles, which evolved into a successful small business in custom auto upholstery. His talent and artistry earned him a reputation for being the very best at his craft. 

Bucky was truly a public servant in every sense, well known for supporting and helping others in every aspect of his life. After retirement, Bucky enjoyed travelling yearly to Aruba with his family, where he forged many lasting friendships and shared countless unforgettable moments. His life was firmly anchored in his family, and his devotion to and support of them was limitless. His mark on this world was larger than life, and he will be greatly missed. 

Calling Hours will be on Friday, February 7, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Saturday, departing the funeral home at 9:40 am in procession to a 10 am Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, (route 9 east), Shrewsbury. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. 

The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in the name of his grandsons Billy and Jonathan to Amego Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with autism. Billy and Jonathan have benefited from Amego’s vocational and residential services since 2018.
