Carmine Lonardo, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Carmine is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Esther (Piccarillo) Lonardo; two sons, Pasquale J. Lonardo and Andrew Lonardo, both of Worcester; a daughter, Patricia Ginisi and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Ashley A. Reynolds and her husband Jonathan, Raychel McMillan, Stephanie Lonardo, and Bobby Lonardo; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter in law, Linda Lonardo and by two cousins, Gregorio Travaglio and Francese Pascucci. He was born in Aorivola, Italy, son of the late, Pasquale and Martha (D’Alonozo) Lonardo and emigrated to Worcester at the age of four. He graduated from Commerce High School and served his adopted country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years.
Carmine worked as a welder at Pratt Whitney Company for thirty-five years, before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Our Lady of Loreto, where he was a devout parishioner attending weekly Masses and Novenas. He was a longtime member of Post 3 and served as Post Commander for many years. He was also a member of the Eastside Improvement Club, the 4th & 1 Club, the Order of Eagles, and Brown Square Civic Club; he enjoyed gathering with friends at these clubs where he could socialize, play cards, and enjoy a good scotch.
Carmine’s favorite times were spent at home with family. He loved his home and tended to his gardens with great love. He would cook for family and friends and teach them how to can the vegetables from his garden along with other great traditions of wine and sausage making; traditions that will be carried on for many years.
