Carol Ann Groccia

February 16, 1945 — January 30, 2021

Carol Ann Groccia,75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at home after a lengthy courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born February 16, 1945 to James and Sophie (Covello) Groccia who predeceased her. She is survived by her devoted partner and best friend of 26 years Naomi Graves of Springfield MA. She also leaves three sisters and their spouses: Marylou and John Laperle of Auburn, Barbara and Gary Morris of Worcester, and Kathy and Paul Morgan of Cape Coral, Florida. They were the best sisters- warm, funny and so loving.  In addition, she leaves her uncle and aunt, George and Theresa Perri of Shrewsbury, MA.  She adored, spoiled and loved all her nieces and nephews: During the past two years, her special joys were her great nephew Quinn James Morris; her great great nephew Patrick Ryan Tivnan; and her great great niece, Avery Coakley.

She leaves behind a loving circle of friends in both Worcester and in Springfield, MA. She was very close to the Springfield College women’s basketball team and staff as well as many other coaches, faculty and administrators.   All who loved her will never forget her wit, love, tenacity and courage.

Carol held several full-time jobs in her life-time but the most rewarding was her time as a Consultant/Outreach Worker at Fallon Community Health Plan.

Funeral services will be private due to COVID concerns. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy memorial donations in her name may be made to The National Pancreas Foundation, by visiting their website: pancreasfoundation.org.

The family is very grateful to Dr Wendy Bergman and to Dr Bradley Switzer for their excellent care and support during Carol’s illness.
