Carol (Tozeski) Baranauskas

Carolyn A. (Tozeski) Baranauskas, 80, of Worcester, formerly of West Boylston, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, with loved ones at her bedside.

Carolyn was born in Worcester, the daughter of Felix and Lucy (Kosakowski) Tozeski. Raised and educated in Worcester, Carol worked many years for an employee assistance company in downtown Worcester before obtaining a position with the City of Worcester School Administration Department, working there for over 10 years before retiring.

Carol’s husband and best friend of 25 years, Paul Baranauskas passed away in 2017. She is survived by her two cherished daughters Cheryl Lazzaro and her husband John of Millbury and Karen Duggan of Worcester; three grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Christopher, Nicholas, and Christina; also her beloved step-son Scott Baranauskas of Worcester, as well as step-daughter Kimberly Baranauskas and her son Alexander of North Carolina; her former son in law, Patrick Duggan; her sweet pet, Ollie the cat; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends including her close and dear friend of over 50 years, Gloria Johnson.

Carol, a devoted mother, dedicated her entire life to her family. In the early years of her daughters’ youth, Carol spent countless hours involved in figure skating. Attending and supporting all the early morning lessons, numerous competitions and exhibitions, she devoted her time in freezing rinks to ensure her daughters had these opportunities to enjoy and excel in the sport they so loved.   Paul and Carol also found special enjoyment traveling to Aruba each year to Casa Del Mar and entertaining family at their home for poolside barbeques and card games. They also enjoyed trips to Bermuda, Newport, and the Cape, completely enjoying the beach.  Carol also enjoyed gardening and meticulously caring for her beautiful flower beds at her home. She was a big New England Patriots fan and never missed watching games on Sundays.     

A period of calling hours will be held Friday, February 11th from 10 am to 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Followed by a service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery.
