Carol A. (Caulfield) Breault, 68, a longtime Douglas resident passed away on Saturday, March 26th 2022, at home surrounded by her loved ones after enduring a long courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Jeanine LeBoeuf and her husband Mark with whom she resided; two brothers, James B. Caulfield of Cape Coral, Florida and Michael A. Caulfield of Saco, Maine; a sister, Sharon E. Coggins of Newnan, Georgia; she was predeceased by a brother, Paul B. Caulfield who passed away in 2008; three grandsons- Aiden, Konnor, and Garrett; a great-nephew whom she considered a grandson, Kaizer; Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as well as additional extended family and friends who she loved dearly.
Carol was born in Spencer, one of five children of James “Buddy” and Pauline (Chenery) Caulfield. Raised in Shrewsbury, Carol graduated from Shrewsbury High School, married, and moved to Douglas in 1985 where she has lived ever since. Her earlier career was a purchaser for Spags of Shrewbury, where she often attended New York City toy conventions as a buyer seeking the most current toys available. Later on in life, Carol worked diligently caring for others as a Home Share Provider. She was employed by HMEA, Alternatives and most recently for the Venture Services Company.
We will remember fondly that Carol was a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She shared countless hours simply being with Jeanine, Mark and their sons. This was a treasured time spent shopping with Jeanine and exchanging friendly sarcasms with Mark. Aside from her daughter and son in law, her world revolved around her grandsons. She passed along many family traditions that involved cooking and baking and making the most of their time together. Their weekends almost always involved a Nani sleepover, baking special treats, attending any one of the many activities they were involved in at the time, or just being with them at home and indulging them in the many ways she always did. A special memory they will always have is her teaching them all how to make anisette cookies and fudge. Her hobbies included being an avid Bingo player at Foxwoods Casino, where she enjoyed spending time with friends she met thru there and also connecting with her other Home Share Provider friends and their clients in various bowling leagues. Carol loved vacationing to Mexico where she took many trips with her brother Jimmy and his wife, Linda. There she enjoyed snorkeling, the beaches and sightseeing. Her love for the beach was also found in her many trips to Maine where she stayed with her brother Mike and his wife, Peggy. These were the times that the cousins and grandchildren were all able to be together, making lasting memories they will always have. Maine was also special to her because she shared many adventures there with her own family, visiting lighthouses, whale watching and day trips to the beach. Her favorite spot was the Portland Head Light. Though they lived far apart, Carol also always loved connecting with her sister, Sharon through the many long phone calls and facetimes they shared.
The LeBoeuf family would like to thank UMass-Memorial, notably Dr. Michael Haddadin and his Oncology Team, Barbara Butler-clinical trial research nurse, and the Infusion Nursing Staff for all of the care, comfort and compassion through the entirety of her treatment and beyond.
