Carol A. Monopoli

Carol A. (Montagna) Monopoli, 85, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, John P. Monopoli in December 2018, a brother John Montagna, a son, Donald R. Richard, and a daughter, Jennifer DiPilato.

Carol is survived by three sons, John L. Monopoli and his wife Sandra, Louis J. Monopoli and his wife Regina, and Chris M. Monopoli and his wife Sandra; twelve grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Taylor, John, Anthony, Christina, Paige, Alyssa, Sophia, Mia, Alexandra, and JJ; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Leominster, MA to Louis and Carmella (Sambito) Montagna.

Carol spent her life doing what she loved the most - caring for others. She worked for fifty years as a certified nursing assistant at Saint Mary’s Healthcare and Providence House Nursing home. She attended all of her children and grandchildren’s baseball and softball games, earning her special recognition for her life-long commitment to Joe DiMaggio Little League. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. When Carol was not taking care of others or at the baseball field, her favorite place to be was at the casino in front of the glowing lights of her beloved slot machines. Her constant presence and Worcester-wide famous eggplant parmesan will be sorely missed.

Her family will receive friends and family on Thursday, September 28, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church followed by a Funeral Mass (33 Massasoit Road, Worcester). She will be laid to rest with her husband at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester following the Mass.
