Carol A. Perch, age 83, of Worcester, died peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2018 in UMass Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 53 years, Samuel P. Perch passed away November 11, 2008.
Carol is survived by her two children, Kenneth P. Perch and his wife Sandra of Shrewsbury and Lori A. Perch of Worcester with whom she lived; a brother, Alvin Perch; a sister, Valerie Kelly and her husband George; two grandchildren, Andrew P. and Katherine A. Perch; a niece and several nephews.
Carol was born in Boston, daughter of Albert and Anne (Stephens) Perch. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and attended Central New England College. Carol’s career began as a Secretary for the Professors of the Mechanical Engineering Dept. for WPI and then moved on to work for Honeywell Medical Group. She then was employed for CardioData Corporation as an Executive Assistant to the President where she also served as Secretary on the Board of Directors. She retired from UMass Memorial Medical Center, where she was employed as Secretary to the Chief of the Bone Marrow Program until her retirement.
Carol always took great pride in her appearance and loved having her hair styled, along with fashion and fine jewelry. She also enjoyed the Red Sox, dining out and was an avid reader from her Kindle. She will be remembered for her great unexpected humor and being a fighter, who rallied throughout many health issues.
Her family extends a special thanks to the staff past and present of DaVita Dialysis for their compassionate care, the staff of Worcester Elder Services, the Jewish Healthcare Center, and the crew of Vital Ambulance. Finally, thanks to all of her physicians, friends and neighbors who went above and beyond providing much needed help.
Carol’s funeral will be held Thursday, October 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church, 1 Industrial Drive, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 24th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church, 1 Industrial Drive, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to Worcester Elder Services, 67 Millbrook Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
