Caryl Ann (Marrone) Masiello, 84, a long-time resident of Shrewsbury, wonderful women and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday December 8th, 2019 at home.
Caryl was born in Worcester, a daughter of Dominick and Josephine A. (Cassone) Marrone. She grew up on Adams Street in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High School 1953, attended Boston University and earned her teaching degree from Lesley College. On May 1st, 1960, Caryl married "the love of her life" John "Jack" Masiello and they began their family. In 1985, Jack and Caryl moved to Shrewsbury where they enjoyed many years of love and family until Jack passed away in 2014. Caryl worked for a time as a teacher in the Oxford School system, a job she found truly rewarding. She then became a real-estate agent with the Bob and Lee Mathieu Real Estate in Shrewsbury later Coldwell Banker before retiring.
Caryl is survived by her two devoted children, John P. Masiello and his companion, Lisa Bacchiocchi of Shrewsbury, Karen Masiello-Beasley and her husband Robert of Savanah, Georgia; three grandchildren she was so proud of Nicholas Masiello and his wife Alyssa, Caroline Howard and her husband John, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Katherine Beasley U.S. Coast Guard; a sister, Darlene Keller of Phoenix Arizona; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends notably Kathy Cooman. Besides her husband Jack and parents, a brother Paul Marrone and sister Norma M. Gemma predeceased her.
Caryl was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and volunteered her time often to many committees at the church, especially in the publication of the most recent church cookbook and on fair committees. She was a beautiful person who especially enjoyed time with family and friends, family holiday dinners, and her dear friends at Worcester Lodge #168, Sons of Italy, and the Wednesday night bocce league with her "Fab 50's" team. She was a past president of the Shrewsbury Women's Club, and was part of the Shrewsbury Garden Club, Lesley University Alumni Association, Worcester and Shrewsbury Republican Town Committees. In her children's youth Caryl was a member and past president of the Parent Family Association at the Bancroft School. Along with her husband, children and grandchildren were her priority, and she remained devoted to her family all her life. She believed that faith, family, and friends were the most important things, and she had room in her heart for everyone she met. She loved to volunteer in her community, and she and Jack taught the family that we are all responsible to leave the world better than you found it. Her unwavering faith got her through life's challenges, and her passing will leave a hole in our hearts, while the lessons she taught will remain.
