Celia A. Johnson

Celia A. (Teczar) Johnson,86, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, February 17, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center with her daughters and sister by her side.

Celia was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Patrick E. and Bella M. (Kopec) Teczar.  In June of 1957 after her husband returned home from the military, she and the “love of her life” were married.  They then settled in the Lakeview neighborhood of Worcester to raise their family with love and faith. Celia worked as a cafeteria aide for the City of Worcester Public Schools for many years before she retired.  She loved to go shopping, lunch with her girls, Sunday dinners, listening to Polka music and spending time with her family.

Celia’s beloved husband of almost 66 years, Albert J. Johnson passed away two weeks prior to her on January 31, 2023.  Celia is survived by her two cherished daughters, Debra L. Piscitelli and her husband Felix Jr. of Charlton and Amy J. Uras and her husband Richard of Spencer; four grandchildren she was so proud of and loved beyond words, Allison and Matthew Piscitelli and Shane and Justin Uras; two brothers, Richard Teczar of Shrewsbury and Francis Teczar of Worcester; two sisters, Patricia Gillies of West Boylston and Joan Teczar of Holden; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.   She is predeceased by a sister, Arlene Teczar.

At Celia’s request, her services will be held privately.  The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
