Charles J. “Charlie” Martinelli, 77, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpected in his home Monday, May 7th, 2018.
Charlie was born and raised in Worcester, his mother was the late Theresa Marotta. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and then began a lengthy, outstanding career that spanned over 40 years with Ostrow Electrical Contractors and with the IBEW Local 96.
Charlie is survived by the love of his life and beloved wife of 55 years, Anita M. (Dagostino) Martinelli; his four children in which he found so much joy, CJ Martinelli and his husband Paul of North Reading; Michael D. Martinelli and his wife Kathleen of Auburn, David C. Martinelli and his wife Lee of Leicester, Catherine Peltier and her husband Donald of Leicester; his brother Angelo Marotta and his wife Diane of Worcester; his nine grandchildren, Anthony, Victoria, Daniel, Stephanie, Nicholas, Timothy, Julianna, Jessica and Charlie; his extended family members especially his two loving aunts Katie and Eva. He also leaves behind many cousins, friends, and coworkers who loved him.
Charlie was a devoted member, volunteer and Choir member of Our Lady of Providence Parish, St Bernard’s Church. He notably volunteered his time and talents extensively to the church. He was a beautiful person who filled his home with love and family. Charlie’s smile and laughter could light up any room and he loved to entertain and share his life with others, especially Christmas Eve. He wintered in Lover’s Key, FL with Anita and summered in Gloucester, MA with his entire family. For Charlie, his wife, children and grandchildren always came first in his life no matter what. He was so proud of his children’s careers and accomplishments, and proud to be able to work side by side with two sons in the trade.
Charlie’s personality was larger than life. He lived life to the fullest and brought joy to all those around him. We all knew what season it was by what drink Charlie had in his hand, an icy Tanqueray and tonic in the summer or a Manhattan in the winter. His sense of humor was one of a kind, his quick wit and passion for life was infectious.
