Christine M. (Mattero) Betti, 98, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Notre Dame Long Term Care surrounded by her family.
Born on July 29, 1920 in Warren, Ohio, she was the oldest daughter to her parents, Guisseppi Mattero and Angelina (Flaminio) Mattero. She leaves behind her daughter, Bridget A. Simoncini and her husband Joseph Simoncini of Boynton Beach, FL and Shrewsbury, her daughter Angela Preble and her husband Richard Preble, of Boynton Beach, FL, her sons Joseph Betti of Worcester and Alfred Betti and his wife Diane Betti of Shrewsbury, as well as her thirty grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Growing up in the family business, Mattero’s Bakery, fostered her love of cooking and baking. She shared this love with all who came to visit, always having a meal or dessert prepared for a guest’s arrival, even those that were unexpected. She was known for her Italian cookies, pizzas and breadsticks and loved teaching her grandchildren how to bake them just like she did. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by friends and family, hosting weekly card games, or a trip to the casino. While she preferred to be out on the town, when she was home, she often enjoyed catching a Red Sox game on television
