Corey James Deluna

December 6, 1987 — March 17, 2025

Concord, MA

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Corey James Deluna, 37. Corey joined family in Heaven on March 17, 2025. Corey was born on December 6, 1987, in Worcester, Massachusetts. After many moves, Corey settled down in Concord, Massachusetts where he enjoyed going out to movies, shopping, and visiting restaurants in the surrounding towns.

Corey was a warrior in the battle against the horrific disease of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was not afraid to call a spade a spade and wore his heart on his sleeve. He always had more to teach us about ourselves. A pioneer in longevity, Corey never let DMD stop him from living his dreams. Corey graduated from the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, where he made everlasting friendships. Corey was a renaissance man who loved discussing psychology, philosophy, religion, medicine and politics as much as he enjoyed playing video games and watching oldies on TV.

Corey was a fantastic and passionate artist, drawing inspiration and insight from artists such as Bob Ross. Corey was also an avid gamer, regularly and successfully adapting to the adversities of his disease in order to continue his hobby throughout life. He loved all animals, especially his cats Baby and Nanny. Corey’s sense of humor, quick wit, and kindness were classic. Corey enjoyed the lifestyle of a connoisseur. He loved to scour the web and watch shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives to find dishes worth traveling to. His favorite meal was the fine dining experience at Twenty-Eight Atlantic in Harwich. Everything was better with either Frank’s Hot Sauce or Sriracha. His favorite foods included his Mom’s turkey dinner, authentic jambalaya, steak and cheese subs, buffalo chicken wings, and the freshest oysters one could find.

Corey is survived by his mother Angela Toscano and her partner Daniel Cavanaugh, as well as his father Brian Deluna. Brother, best friend, and protector Mark Deluna and his fiancée Ambrose Belding. Aunt and Uncle Diana and Joseph Penny. Aunt Joanna Toscano. Aunt Christina Plaud and her partner Peter Doe. Cousins Alicia, Michael, Aubrey and Bradley Raskett. Michael and Carmine Penny. Jessica, David, Jacob, Samantha and Hannah Weissman. Anthony Bechard and Rachael Plaud. Family, friends and especially longtime friend April Magsipoc of the Philippines.

Corey is predeceased by his Grandparents Anthony (Tony) Toscano and Kathleen (Ursula) Hassett Toscano. Uncles Joseph Toscano, Mark Toscano, Michael Toscano and Anthony (Tony) Toscano. Aunts Gina Bechard and Kathleen (Kathy) Toscano.

Corey will always be remembered and forever be missed. With his magnanimous nature, he taught us all how to live.

A celebration of Corey’s life will be held with family and friends this summer.
