Daniel “Dan” Francis Conlin, 83 of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September,10,2018 at UMMHC, Memorial Campus after a brief illness.
He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel A. and Elizabeth M. (McCarthy) Conlin . He had resided in Worcester all his life. He graduated from St John’s High School in 1953 and earned his electrical engineering degree at New England Worcester Junior College. Dan served in the National Guard for 8 years. He was an outside sales representative for a number of electrical supply companies including, Atlantic Electric, Federal Pacific, and CDA alarm systems in Worcester, MA.
Dan was an accomplished athlete, boxing in his earlier years and earning a second-degree black belt in Judo, which led to a state national championship. He was “sensei” to many where he instructed Judo throughout Worcester colleges teaching woman’s self-defense. He also taught Judo at the YMCA and owned his own Judo studio in Grafton, MA.
Dan loved his family and his ability to make us all laugh never ceased. We will all miss his quick sense of humor and his strength that kept us going through the family losses.
He leaves behind his daughter, Tricia Carol Conlin- Shreve of Rutland and her husband Brad,10 grandchildren, Flannery Weimer, Jared Conlin, Daniel and Ryan Riley, Timothy, Carolyn and Michael Towle , Kelly, Katherine and Bridget Shreve and 8 great grandchildren, Isabelle, Grace, Alexander, Jaxson, Gwen, Gianna, Milania and Ava. A step daughter, Lee Hall, and 3 step sons Barry , Ricky and Tony Aslanian, A daughter in law Judith Miller-Conlin, Son-in-law’s, Raymond Towle and Thomas Riley and former wife Linda Jackson. He is predeceased by four of his children, John Francis Conlin, Kathleen Isabel Towle, Michael Patrick Conlin, Laureen Elizabeth Riley and his first wife Carol Marie Sloan.
Daniel’s Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, September 17th 2018 at 11:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street. Burial of Ashes will follow in St John Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers his family requests you do an act of kindness for someone in his memory. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
