David J Belinskas

June 4, 1945 — December 3, 2020

David J. Belinskas, 74, longtime Shrewsbury resident passed away with his devoted wife at his bedside December 3, 2020, joining in heaven his son Keith who passed away on August 8th of 2011.

David was born in Worcester, on June 4, 1946, the son of Stanley and Phyllis (Bindhammer) Belinskas.  Raised in Worcester on Grafton Hill,  and educated in Worcester, David joined the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly in Vietnam.   Upon discharge and return to Worcester, David met the “Love of his Life” Maryann Moossa,  they married on June 7th, 1970 and settled in Shrewsbury raising their family with love, dedication, and family over the next 50 years.  David worked as an Overhead line supervisor for the Massachusetts Electric/ National Grid for 40 years before retiring.  He also served as a past board member of the Central One Federal Credit Union and also as a Shrewsbury Town Meeting member.

David is survived by his wife  Maryann; their daughter, Tracey Belinskas-Roach and her husband Paul of Millbury;  his two beautiful  grandsons,  Shane and Dylan Belinskas; a daughter in law, Tara Belinskas of Sturbridge; his grand dog, Chase; six brothers, Stanley Belinskas and his wife Gail, Paul Belinskas and his wife Jeannie, Michael Belinskas and his wife Barbara, Daniel Belinskas and his wife Nancy, all of Worcester, Stephen Belinskas and his wife Phyliss of Daytona, FL, and James Belinskas and his wife Madeline of Spencer; his father in law, George K Moossa in Venice, Florida; Many Nieces, nephews, notably Mark, Matthew and Kurt who were very close to him, extended family and lifelong friends, Billy Holley, Bob Horne, Ike Aubrey , Jim Gendron, Craig Richards, Lee Schonberg, and Lee Bettencourt.  Besides, his son Keith and parents, a sister Sally Phenix, his brother, George and mother-in-law, Mabel Moossa predeceased him. 

David was a member of St Anne’s Church, the Shrewsbury Adelphi Counsel Knights of Columbus as a 3rd degree member and the Corvette Club.  He notably enjoyed attending antique car shows, rides in his red corvette with Maryann at his side, and a true family man, as his family always came first in his life.   He enjoyed every minute he could spend with them especially Maryann traveling, to places such as Hawaii, Florida, the Caribbean and Aruba, the holidays, special occasions and family dinners.  David was also extremely close to his brothers and friends, spending numerous hours talking, laughing, and spending quality time over coffee.  He enjoyed playing golf, the occasional casinos trips.  He also coached Hockey and Little League baseball for the town, and enjoyed attending his grandsons’ school and sporting events.

A special thank you to the 7th floor ICU nurses at UMASS Hospital in Worcester that took outstanding care of him. 

Friends and relatives are invited to his Celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be held Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 am in St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury.  Burial next to his son Keith will follow in Mt View Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Central Mass Vets Inc, 60 Grove St. Worcester.  Out of an abundance of caution there are no calling hours. COVID restrictions including Masks and social distancing will be required Saturday in church.  Live streaming will be available for the Mass at www.mercadantefuneral.com/liveservices.    The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  honored to assist the family with arrangements.
