David J. Dunkerly, 62 of Danielson CT, formerly of Worcester passed away Monday, December 5th 2022 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident while driving on I-395 in Auburn.
David was born in Worcester, one of six children of John A. and Florence (Gerardi) Dunkerly. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade as a machinist and accepted a job with the Gallant Machine Shop. David left Gallant to establish his own company, D.J. Machine Works, operating it for a number of years before closing the shop and rejoining his former employer, Gallant. David notably was such a fabricator, with a machine, people could always tell it was him who made the item. David lived on Almont Avenue in his younger years, and when he met Linda, they moved and spent most of their adult life in Connecticut.
David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda S. Dunkerly; his two children, Ashley Dunkerly and her companion Alec of Webster, Mack Dunkerly of Gardner; two granddaughters, Annalise and Elaina; three brothers, Allan Dunkerly and his wife Carol of Portland Maine, Paul Dunkerly and his wife Angela of Paxton, Jay Dunkerly and his wife Jean of Cherry Valley; sisters, Cathy Bollus and her husband Mike of Worcester, Wendy J. Conway and her husband Jack of West Boylston; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A kind, and gentile individual, David had a heart of Gold. He would routinely help anybody that needed his hand. His wife, children and most importantly his grandchildren were what David cherished the most in his life and cherished every moment he had with them. David also loved attending Car shows, watching the News, TV, and tinkering with antique cars. His favorite being a Fleetwood Cadillac.
A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 13th from 4 pm to 6 pm followed by a funeral service at 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be private.
