David R. Kalagher, 62, of Worcester, a retired Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
David is survived by his three children, Jamie M. Kalagher of Boston, Melissa K. Kalagher and her fiancé Nicholas Rivers of Vineyard Haven, and Courtney A. Kalagher of Worcester; his long-time girlfriend, Kim Parodeau-Welsh; three grandchildren, Mason, Andrew, and Nicholas; he is also survived by his brother, Michael Kalagher in Florida; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. David was born in Worcester, son of the late, Raymond and Rita (Frongillo) Kalagher, and having graduated from North High School, he has lived here all his life.
David worked at the Worcester County House of Correction for many years, retiring in 2016 as a Lieutenant; and in his retirement he continued to work at the jail as a civilian employee, operating the jail gardens and farm. David was often surrounded by family and friends as he always enjoyed good time with wonderful people. He had a “green thumb” and loved to work in his yard, making it more beautiful each year. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time on Marth’s Vineyard.
Calling Hours will be on Sunday, June 9, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 10, at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Please go directly to church.
