David J. Vayo

David J. Vayo, 57 of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

David was born in Worcester, a son of Robert S. Vayo of Holden and the late Lorraine C. (Gervais) Vayo.  He graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic High School and lived in Worcester all his life.  David served his country proudly in the United States Air Force before being honorably discharged.  He worked as a logistics coordinating warehouse manager for various companies for many years and was a member of St, John’s Church.

David was passionate about spending time with his family, friends, and pets. Activities he enjoyed included gardening, helping out at his local VFW, and an occasional golf outing with his father. He also enjoyed concerts, antiquing, the ocean, theater, and watching our local sports teams. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could be counted on to bring a smile to your face. 

David is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna Lee (O’Donnell) Vayo; three brothers, Robert Vayo and his significant other Jennifer Kratzer, Brian Vayo and his wife Renata of Holden, and Jeffrey Vayo and his fiancé Paula of Spencer; his sister, Diane Scalley of Worcester. David leaves two nieces, Erica and Samantha Vayo his Goddaughter, and two nephews, Patrick and Ryan Scalley who fondly referred to him as “Uncle Buck”.

Services for David will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester.  Burial will be held privately and at a later date.  A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating in David’s name to St. John’s Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604, or Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605
