David L. Wilson, 87, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, in the comfort of his home. His loving wife of fifty-eight years, Lola (Hughes) Wilson, predeceased him in May 2007.
David is survived by two daughters, Dorothy L. Diana and Thressa Corazzini; five sons, Samuel Wilson, Ernest Wilson, David Earl Wilson, Kent Wilson, and Patrick O. Wilson; twenty-one grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Barry, Alabama son of the late, Jake Pruit and Polly Wilson; and was raised by his grandparents. He grew up in Alabama, and served his nation proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany as soldier with the combat engineers.
He and Lola later moved to Worcester in 1968, where he worked at UMass for over 20 years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in which he served as a Deacon. He was known as an honest and giving person, whose smile and storytelling will be remembered.
Calling Hours will be on Friday morning, June 8, from 9 a.m. until his Funeral Service begins at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
