Deacon Anthony L. James, 64 of Worcester went home to the Lord, with his loved ones gathered at his side, Monday, May 18th, 2020.
A man of deep faith, Deacon Anthony was born in Waterbury CT, a son of Cecil James Sr .and Nancy (Long) James. Raised in Waterbury, he received his associate degree from Waterbury College. On May 20th of 2000, Deacon Anthony married, the Love of his Life, Maria A Beaudette and settled in Worcester to live, work and love.
Deacon Anthony is survived by his wife and partner, Maria; his three children, Anthony Zaksewicz and his wife Tanya of Florida, Jamal Beaudette, and Jazmin James both of Worcester; his father Cecil James, Sr.; three Brothers, Robert,(Ojetta) Donald, Timothy(Cozzon) James and his sister Florence(Oscar) all in Waterbury; six grandchildren. He had many nieces, nephews and extended family members. His mother, Nancy James, brother, Cecil James, Jr. and sister, Teresa James all predeceased him.
Deacon Anthony was spiritually called to help people. He worked as a Drug rehabilitation Counselor many years for the Worcester County Sheriff’s association, Worcester House of Correction, Adcare Hospital and Thayer detox. He also worked as a driving instructor, youth mentor and Car salesman.
Deacon James was a dedicated and faith-based member and volunteer of Second Baptist church. A member since the early 1990’s, Deacon Anthony volunteered as an usher, custodian, youth mentor, and Head Deacon. He loved his church as he loved his family. It is safe to say, He did everything asked or was needed at Second Baptist church and his love for the LORD. With a special spiritual bond, Anthony and Maria enjoyed each other’s company and were in deep love; they loved Gospel music, church programs, long walks, drives in the country and just spur of the moment activities together. They also travel together many functions that involved recovering addicts.
He loved his family deeply. Being a man of God he taught them how to pray and thank the Lord for Everything! He enjoyed flying kites with them, going on picnics and to yard sales. He especially loved the holidays to enjoy his extended family, whom he loved dearly.
After cremation, a celebration of life service at Second Baptist Church when its safe to due so. THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
