Deborah Ann Hunt

Deborah Ann “Debbie” Hunt, 65 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 27, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.

 Debbie was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Joseph D. and Irene (Derosier) Woods.  She graduated from Doherty Memorial High School. Debbie worked as a toll collector at Interchange 9 in Sturbridge for the Massachusetts Turnpike retiring in October of 2016. Prior to that, Debbie was a waitress at Barber’s Crossing for several years.

Debbie is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Thomas M. Hunt; her three children, Melissa Hunt-Deneault and her husband Robert of Worcester, Matthew Hunt and his wife Megan of Foxboro and Andrea Sawosik and her husband Peter of Spencer. She was preceded by her brother David Woods of Worcester.

 She was immensely loved and adoringly known as Meme by her five grandchildren, Joshua whom she shared a birthday and his wife Beca, Myles, Madelyn, Amelia and Sophia.

 Debbie loved the beach, especially Hampton Beach and when the opportunity arose could be found sitting there from sunrise till sunset.

 Endearingly referred to as “Pebba” or “Honeybunch” by her husband she loved vacationing to Delray Beach, gardening, crocheting, and sitting in the sun by her pool. Her term of endearment for “Tommy” was “Buster”.

 She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed but forever remembered by her family.

 The Hunt Family would like to thank the VNA Hospice & Palliative Care for Debbie’s compassionate care, especially her RN Giselle.

 A funeral Mass for Debbie will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Saint John Cemetery, Worcester.  A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 3 from 9-10:15 am at the MERCADATE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester prior to departure for her funeral Mass.
