Dolores D. (LeClair) Ginga, of Worcester, went peacefully home to her Lord on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the comfort of her home. She was 10 days shy of her 94th birthday.
Dolores was born on September 17, 1930, in Worcester, daughter of the late Romeo and Yvonne D. (Dupre) LeClair and was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School, Class of 1948. Early in her life she worked for GE Telecon where she met her late husband, Leo Ginga. She stayed home when her children were small and then returned to work as an underwriter for State Mutual and Hanover Insurance, retiring after 20 years of service.
Dolores was a devout Catholic who enjoyed singing in church choirs from an early age. She was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Church. Church and faith were extremely important to her and, after retirement, she attended mass daily. Dolores was an active member of the VFW Post 6907 Axillary in West Boylston and served as the treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Greendale Retired Friends Club, traveling with their group trips often. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed all occasions of being with family. She was an avid gardener and loved socializing with her friends, many of whom she'd known since childhood.
Dolores’ husband of 54 years, Leo R. Ginga, passed away in 2012. She is survived by four children, Richard Ginga of Charlton, Elizabeth Ginga of Boston, Marie Ginga of West Boylston and Donna Ginga and her wife Alicia Stewart of Northampton; three grandchildren, Jacob Ginga and his wife Annika, Maya Ginga Ritchie and her husband Christopher and Corin Harkness and her partner Randall; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a brother, Richard LeClair and two sisters, Annette Coakley and Georgianna O’Brien.
Calling hours for Dolores will be held at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., on Friday, September 13th from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery in Southborough.
