Donald C. Johnson, age 86, of Worcester passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 16, 2018 in UMASS Medical Center. His wife of 47 years, Lillie M. (Peoples) Johnson passed away in February 2012.
Donald was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on October 19, 1931 and preceded in death by his parents, Leonard & Ethel M. (Grady) Johnson. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and has lived in Worcester for most of his life. Mr. Johnson worked for the GF Wright Steel & Wire Co. for over 28 years, retiring in 2001.
Donald leaves to mourn his two daughters, Donnal I. Johnson of Greensboro, NC and Earylsa D. Simon and her husband Kevin D. of Worcester; two sons, Thomas E. Johnson of Fayetteville, NC and Donald Johnson and his wife Donna of Worcester;; a sister, Barbara Carter of New York; a brother, Harry Johnson and his wife Jean of Holden; grandchildren, Tyler, Tatianna, Marcus, Jovaughn & Olivia; great grandchildren, Ethan & Khai along with other close relatives, Kayla & Tyler Laflash and Steven and his wife Kimberly Laflash. He is predeceased by a son, Anthony J. Johnson; a grandson, Joseph Safo; two brothers, Richard and Leonard Johnson and a sister, Patricia Johnson.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Donald touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Donald’s funeral service will be celebrated following calling hours at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Hope Cemetery will be held privately.
