Donald P. Kender

Donald P. Kender, 82, of Webster, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, in the comfort of his home, while surrounded by loving family.

Donald is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Jeanne M. (Girouard) Kender; a son, Roger P. Kender of Palmer; three daughters, Deborah M. Ricciuti and her husband Michael of Shiloh, NC, Kathleen L. Gabis and her husband Thomas of Dudley, and Elizabeth M. Kender, with whom he and Jeanne live; a brother, John F. Kender, Jr. of Cape Cod; a sister Linda Soars of Boston; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  Donald a Jeanne have experienced a pain that no parent should have, with the deaths of three children, Craig E. Sargent in Nov. 2020, Bonnie L. McGee in Jan. 2022, and Christine M. Rice in Dec. 2012.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Shirley Dirsa.  Donald was born in Worcester, son of the late, John F. Kender and Blanche (Laprade) Kender. 

Donald grew up in the Shrewsbury Street neighborhood of Worcester, where he made many life-long friends.  He and Jeanne moved to Webster in the mid 1960’s, where they raised their family.  He was a member of Saint Louis Parish and dedicated his life to his family.  He worked for many years at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette at a photo engraver, before retiring in 2002.

Calling Hours well be on Tuesday, November 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  His Funeral will be on Wednesday, November 23, departing the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Louis Parish, 14 Lake Street, Webster.  Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
