Donald R. Paldino, Sr. 81, of Worcester, above all a true loving family man, passed away peacefully Friday, January 3, 2020, surrounded by the ones he loved after a long illness.
Born, raised and educated in Worcester, Donald was one of eight children of Pasquale and Mary (Generelli) Paldino. On September 6th, 1958, in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Donald married Rose Monopoli and began a 61 years voyage of love, family and dedication raising their cherished family in a Grafton Hill neighborhood of Worcester.
Donald founded, owned, operated and guided the Chandler Plumbing and Heating Company from its founding in 1972 until retiring in 2008. His company flourished due to Donald’s dedication to helping others at any time in need.
He is survived by his wife and life’s love, Rose: his two daughters, Donna Hall and her husband George , Mary Heckman and her husband Wayne all of Worcester, Donald Paldino Jr. and his wife Joann, Edward Paldino and his wife Fabiana both in North Carolina; 16 cherished grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren: a brother, Anthony Paldino; three sisters, Dorothy Lizotte, Bernadette Genatossio and Carol-Ann Tessier; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Two brothers, Samuel and Peter Paldino, Sr and a sister, Louise Riopel predeceased him.
Donald was a Vietnam Era veteran serving in the Massachusetts Army National guard. He was a member of St John’s Church, the Central Mass Antique Auto Club, the Pope John 23rd Council, Knights of Columbus and its Bowling league. Donald and Rose enjoyed camping and visited sites from Canada to Florida and considered “Snowbirds” during winters, owning a home in Pompano Beach, Florida. He had a love for family and all the traditions of a large Italian family. The holidays, the special occasions, activities of children and grandchildren and the wonders of visiting Disney while vacationing in Florida. Donald was also a Boston Red Sox fan.
Friends And relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday, January 8th, 9:30-11:00am with in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. follow by a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
