Donald A. Provost

Donald A. Provost, 84, a lifelong resident of Worcester and devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully, Sunday May 16, 2021 after a period of declining health. 

Donald was born in Worcester, the son of John B. and Cordelia (Bricault) Provost.   Raised and educated in Worcester, Donald married the love of his life  Theresa A. Back.  They then began a life of love, devotion and family raising their children for over 49 years before Theresa left his side in 2006.    Donald began a career caring for his family as a machine operator for KEN-WELD for more than 25 years.  He then accepted a position as a machine operator for ALL STEEL FABRICATION before retiring due to illness.

Donald is survived by his beloved two children,  Rebecca A. Provost of Fitchburg and Donald J. Provost, Jr. of Spencer; a sister, Claire Provost of Worcester; four grandchildren he was so proud of, Eric, Alaina, Felisha, and Donald R. Provost III; six great grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.   In addition to his wife Theresa and parents, a brother, Gene P. Provost also predeceased him.

Donald was a simple, gentle man, with a huge heart.  He cherished everyone, enjoying fully each moment he could be with his family.   The holidays and special occasions were her happiest moments and total joy.   Donald  was an avid fisherman, loved camping, and mushroom picking. 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a period of calling hours Friday, May 21^st from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  followed by a prayer service.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to The American Heart Association,  300 5^th Ave, #6, Waltham, Mass, 02451.  www.heart.org
