Doris Alexina (Provost) Philip 87 of Worcester/Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Sunday, July 1, 2018 with her loving family at her side. She leaves behind her two loving daughters, Susan and Joan Philip, her precious grandchildren Jessica and Jonah Meehan, and other beloved family members. Doris is also predeceased by her loving husband John and daughter Marie. She was the daughter of Aldege A. Provost and Celina M. (Lusignan) Provost. Doris was born in Webster Ma and attended the Beverly School for the Deaf. She married the love of her life John on June 28, 1952. Doris was one of the first of many women to join the Worcester Deaf Club in 1963, and was a lifelong member. She was also a member of the Central Massachusetts Deaf Senior Citizens Center. Doris worked as a seamstress and an Artex saleswoman along with many other responsibilities she attended to. She loved crocheting, sewing, playing cards, bingo, chocolate, and socializing. People always loved her delightful, infectious smile and laughter. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Doris and John were loyal and fierce supporters of the Worcester Deaf Club. They believed in bringing deaf people in Massachusetts together so that they could be a community and a culture serving one another. Calling hours for Doris will be on Friday July 6, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel 370 Plantation St Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9am in St. John’s Church 40 Temple St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory may be made to the John L. Philip Building Fund so that Doris and John’s legacy may live on for countless future generations.
