Dorothy A. (Dabrowski) Smith

January 2, 1935 — October 20, 2023

Dorothy A. (Dabrowski) Smith, 88, 'Miss Webster of 1935' currently of Worcester passed away October 20, 2023, in her home. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph A Smith. 

She now joins her companion of 22 years, John Gillio, who passed away in June 2022. She is survived by her five children, her son Keith Smith and his wife Cindy of Portsmouth, NH, daughters, Margaret Beaudoin and her husband James of Millbury, Belinda Smith of Chester, VA, Darlene Reynolds and her husband James of Worcester, and Alesia Padula and her husband Mark of Northborough; twelve grandchildren Matthew, Audrey, Tiffany, Brandon, Monica, Christopher, Katelyn, Jonathan, Jolene and triplets Jillian, Mary and Robert; four great grandchildren, Abigail, Nicholas, Aoife and Liliana. Her sister, Charlotte Maisto of Webster; and many cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Richard Dabrowski. 

Dorothy was born in Webster, MA to Ignatius P. and Helen R. (Roskowski) and graduated from Bartlett High School and was a member of the Joseph Basilica in Webster. She briefly worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge before moving to Worcester after marriage where she lived there until death. Dorothy worked at David Clark Co. as a secretary and left in 1981 to work at GTE and General Dynamics as an office assistant until her retirement. 

Dorothy loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They kept her busy with their visits and activities. Dorothy was a long-time member of Webster/Dudley Polish American Veterans Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, sewing and crafting. Dorothy was involved with a ministry making rosary beads. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 9:30am to 10:30am at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St, Worcester, with interment to immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Webster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St, Worcester 01604.
