Dr. Gail C. (Walsh) Debs, 65 of Westborough, passed away surrounded by loved ones at home, Saturday, August 19, 2023, after a period of declining health.
Gail was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of James F. and Mabel A.T. (Bunnell) Walsh. Educated in Michigan, she graduated from Franklin High School in Livonia, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and her Doctorate of Chiropractic from National Chiropractic College. Dr. Debs practiced at the office that she and her former husband built at Hamilton St and then Plantation St in Worcester, before retiring.
Gail is survived by her devoted daughters, Dr. Jaclyn Debs of Millbury and her companion, Mark Nolan of Paxton, Stephanie Debs and her fiancée, Dr. Joshua Russell of Shrewsbury; sisters, Dr. Eileen Block and her husband Dr. Robert Block of Ballston Spa, NY, Daniela Gapp of Livonia, MI; Stepmother Judith Walsh of Scarsdale, NY; nieces and nephews including, Allyson, Jacob, Zachary, Andrew, Michael Jr., Tessa, and Sophia; her grand dogs, Sami and Chubbs; extended family and friends both here and in Michigan; In addition to her parents, a brother, Dr. James Jefferson Walsh, and pet dogs Sandy and Luke predeceased her.
Gail was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Connect Community Church, the Massachusetts Chiropractic Society, and American Chiropractic Association. She was extremely spiritual and a member of several Bible groups. She also donated her time as a missionary in chiropractic, helping people in the Dominican Republic, and was a fourth grade Sunday school teacher at St. George’s for many years.
Gail was known for her adventurist spirit and love of nature. She was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed hiking and skiing. In 1981, she ran the Chicago Marathon. She cherished her family and was so proud to see her children follow in her footsteps.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 23rd from 10 am to 12 noon at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester MA 01605 followed by a prayer service. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Sunday School Fund, 30 Anna Street or the NEADS Service Dog Association P.O.Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541, in her name.
