Eduardo Franco, 82, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of his daughter’s home surrounded by his family on Monday, June 15, 2020.
Eduardo is survived by his loving wife, Maria Rivera Rodriguez; a son, Edward Franco and his wife Carmen Mejias-Franco; a daughter, Omary Franco, all of Worcester; a brother, Miguel Angel Franco; two sisters, Justina Franco and Maria Luisa Franco; three grandchildren, Gordon Mejias, Genesis Franco, and Abraham Mago; five great grandchildren, Nico Mejias and twins Emmalis and Normalis Mejias, Nayalis Gonzalez and Enrique Bernal ; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers Felix Franco, Gilberto Franco, and Angel Luis Franco, and two sisters Virginia Franco, and Hilda Franco. Eduardo was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, son of the late Prundencio and Teresa Ramos Franco.
Eduardo was very athletic, he broke records in pole vaulting and enjoyed swimming. He served in the United States Army and later moved to New York, then going back to Puerto Rico before settling in Worcester 26 years ago. He was a talented cook for several area restaurants, including his family owned food truck. He was a very handy man who enjoyed landscaping and construction. Eduardo was full of life, with a young soul. He enjoyed being around his family, which he was very overprotective of. Making people laugh was his specialty, and he would always light up every room he entered. He is loved by many and will be missed.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, June 19, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. In consideration of current health guidelines, masks that cover nose and mouth, along with Social Distancing Protocols will be required. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
