Edward J. “Teddy” Jalboot, 84, of Dennis, formerly Worcester, a devoted family man and friend, passed away at his home in Shrewsbury, on Sunday, July 18, with his loved ones by his side.
Born, raised, and educated in Worcester, Edward was the son of Alexander and Mildred (Swenson) Jalboot. Shortly after high school, Edward joined the U.S. Army serving three years as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg, NC. Upon return to Worcester, he married Josephine V. D’Olimpio, and began a 39-year marriage, raising their two daughters until 1997 when Josie, the love of his life, passed. Ed worked to support his family over 34 years for Norton Company in the kiln department before retiring.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa A. Mollo of Grafton, Linda M. Vitols and her husband Michael of Westborough; his sister and best friend, Joyce F. Ritacco and her husband Francis of Sutton; four grandchildren he was so proud of, who lovingly called him “Beebs”, Michael Vitols and his wife Amanda of Shrewsbury, Julie Mollo of Brooklyn, NY, Nicholas Vitols and his fiance Nicole Pavisic of Wellington, FL and Joseph Vitols of Worcester; two great grandchildren, Aurora and Aria; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife and his son-in-law, John “J” Mollo.
Edward was a member of the Norton Retirees Association and always looked forward to the Norton clambake outing, catching up with his friends and former co-workers. Edward along with his bright smile, contagious laugh, and huge heart enjoyed many things in his life. He loved the beaches of Cape Cod, notably Mayflower, playing dominoes with Joyce, making puzzles, and in his younger years hunting. He was the backbone of his family and a selfless, friendly neighbor, always willing to lend a hand to anyone he knew. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but his loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, July 23rd from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. His funeral will be celebrated Saturday, July 24th from the funeral home with a procession to St Mary’s Church, 640 Main St in Shrewsbury, where his funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am.
