Edward A. Manzello, 87, a lifelong Worcester residence passed away peacefully Sunday, December 9th, 2018 with the ones he loved gathered at his bedside.
Edward was born and raised in Worcester, one of nine children of Anthony and Elizabeth (Petrone) Manzello. In 1953, Edward married the “Love of his life” Janice M. Gamache and began a 66-year life together raising their family in the Grafton Hill neighborhood of Worcester. Edward began his working career as an engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts District three DPW in Worcester. He then accepted a position as a Court Officer with the Superior Court in Worcester before retiring. Edward worked as a State Employee for many years.
He is survived by his wife Janice; his four children, Christine A. Ludy and her husband John of Boynton Beach, Florida, Diane M. Brescia of Grafton, Edward F. Manzello and his wife Erin of Dallas, Texas and Robert J. Manzello of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren who adored him and lovingly called him “BooBoo”, Kelly, Tracy, Amy, Caitlin, Anthony, Tanner, Michaella and Paige; seven great grandchildren, Kendal, Drew, Jack, Brandon, Alec, Brooke and Layla; his beloved dog Nellie; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, a daughter in Law, Michele passed away in 2013, six brothers, Frank, Rocco, Angelo, Anthony, Nicholas and Louis “Shine” Manzello and three sisters, Mary Paciello, Sarah Porcaro and R. Elizabeth Figurski all pre-deceased him.
Edward was an avid, New York Yankee’s and New York Giants Fan, and an occasional attendee at horse tracks in the area. He also loved Saratoga in the summers. Edward was actively involved in local, city and state politics over the years. A simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the many family and holiday gatherings of the Manzello brothers and sisters.
Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours, Wednesday, December 12th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Funeral services and entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tenn.
The Manzello family would like to thank the Care One of Millbury, for the care, compassion and comfort they provided Edward while he was in their care.
