Edward E. Samia 81, of Leicester, MA. passed away peacefully, Friday, December 18, 2020 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center with his wife and family by his side.
Eddie was born in Worcester on April 5, 1939, the son of the late Elias and Josephine (Alekel) Samia and raised by his second mother Tspina Abraham.
Eddie and his wife Marie owned and operated the English Social Club on Camp Street in Worcester. They made many friends in their business and enjoyed hosting holiday parties and special events for their members as well as many charitable events and sponsorships to benefit the local community. Eddie was always the life of the party and enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. He is known for his passion for music of all genres with his favorites like Judy Garland, Kate Smith and Barbara Mandrell. Eddie loved dancing and celebrating and made sure everyone felt welcome and had a great time. Eddie was twice Past Master of the former Quinsigamond Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. and recently received his 50-year membership pin. He was also a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and sang in the church choir for many years.
In his early years Eddie and Marie opened Eli"s Syrian Bakery in Worcester working tirelessly making Syrian bread and other Syrian delicacies for the Worcester community. After receiving his realtor license, Eddie started his own realty company E&M Realty and became a great businessman, providing for his family and serving his community.
Eddie enjoyed trips to Aruba with Marie, to their timeshare, every February. He also loved summers at Salisbury beach with his family.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie (Mele) Samia; his three children, Gail Samia of Worcester, Patricia Anderson and her husband Charles of Millbury, and Elias Samia of Worcester; three grandchildren, Ryan Anderson, Layla Samia, Emmarie Samia; a step-granddaughter, Nadine Anderson; two great grandsons, Benjamin, and Thomas Anderson, and a step-great grandson, Devandre Edmonds; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. In addition to his parents, a sister Rojean Elias Ciuffredo and brothers, Abraham (Abe) Esper and Esa Abraham, all predeceased him.
Out of an abundance of caution with COVID 19, services and burial in Hope Cemetery will be private. Memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral endowment fund, 30 Anna Street, Worcester.
