Our beloved son Elijah Malachi "Squi" Pye, 20 years old of Cherry Valley, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, from injuries suffered in an untimely accident.
A 2020 Leicester High School graduate, Elijah was one that you had to get to know, as he would light up the room with his smile and personality. He was loving, caring, passionate, enjoyed the outdoors, nature and fishing, and being with his friends, who were family to him.
Elijah was a hardworking boy who played sports throughout high school. Even when he was down and out with a knee injury, he went to support his team at the state championship played at Gillette Stadium.
Following high school, Eli knew that he was not interested in college life, so he went to trade school at Porter & Chester Institute. There he was educated as a diesel truck mechanic, a trade that would be helpful to his dad and the family business. Elijah was a working man at heart, who when he was little, loved Bob the Builder “Can We Fix It?” Elijah worked for some time doing landscaping with Twins Landscaping before taking a job he thoroughly enjoyed at Webster Square Tire & Auto Service.
Elijah was loved by many, and is survived by his loving parents, Adrian L. and Stephanie M. (Hazzard) Pye; a brother, Kameron M. Pye, and a sister, Jahmaira J. Pye, all at home in Cherry Valley. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Jane Mensah, and step grandfather Daniel Mensah of Worcester; paternal grandfather Wilbert Pye of California; maternal grandmother, Ruth Martin of Virginia; maternal step grandmother, Esther Hazzard of Worcester; his paternal great grandmother, seven aunts, many granduncles and grandaunts, cousins, and an abundance of friends who were family to him. His maternal grandfather, Leonard Hazzard Jr., predeceased him in April 2022.
Elijah was also a proud member of the Hassanamisco Nipmuc tribe, and will be remembered for his bright spirit, loving soul, and dedication to family and friends.
