Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Daboul) Abdella, 103, a 66 year resident of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
Elizabeth (“Betty” as she was lovingly known as to her family and friends) was born on March 8, 1915, one of eleven children of Jacob and Mary Daboul. She was raised on East Worcester Street in the Italian neighborhood of Shrewsbury Street. After marriage she lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Shrewsbury for over 66 years. She worked for her son Richard at his hair salon (Richard’s Hair Salon) as his receptionist before retiring.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, best friend and former employer, Richard J. Abdella of Shrewsbury; a brother, Joseph Daboul of Worcester; a Grandson, James Abdella and three great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Elizabeth was pre-deceased by several close family; her son, James Abdella, in November of 2010; a sister, Josephine Cote, July 31st of this year; brothers, John Daboul (who was killed in action during WWII), Peter and Anthony Daboul and five other sisters; Sadie Daboul, Lena Daboul, Mary Webb, Ida Healy Ranno, and Rose Daigle.
Elizabeth was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church. A quiet person all her life, Elizabeth cherished the times she spent with her children, siblings and extended family members.
Graveside services in Mt. View Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial remembrances in her name can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street Worcester. THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
