Elizabeth “Betty” C. (Dahrooge) Albano, 74, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at home with loved ones by her side. She was the beloved wife to the late, Joseph Albano, Sr.
Betty was born on May 18, 1950, in Shrewsbury, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Phyllis (Javobski) Dahrooge.
Betty’s greatest joy in life was being with her family, especially her five grandchildren. She loved family vacations at the beach and gardening. She could usually be found enjoying a glass of wine while watching the Hallmark Channel. Betty was a woman of faith and strength who touched the lives of all that knew her. Betty was a nurse for over thirty years working in Nursing Homes compassionately caring for those in need.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Joseph Albano, Jr. of Shrewsbury, and his wife Christol, Michelle Albano of Auburn and her fiancée Ryan Mancini; her adored grandchildren, Kayla, Annabella, Allie, Jayden, and Anthony; her cherished sister, Helen Mancini of Connecticut, her best friend and brother in-law James Albano, her step-mother Magaret Dahrooge, of Westminster; her dear step-daughters, Marielena Albano of Worcester and Lisa Albano-Selzo of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank her Salmon Hospice Nursing Team as well as the Dana Farber Oncology Team for the care and compassion they provided. A very special thank you to Uncle Jim for standing by Betty every moment of the way in her long courageous battle with brain cancer.
Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel are honored to assist the family with arrangements. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, the procession from the funeral home will begin at 10:30a.m. Interment will immediately follow Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
