Eva J. (Feraco) D’Acri, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away surrounded by loved ones, Sunday, April 18, 2021 one day after celebrating her 98th birthday.
Eva was born in Worcester, April 17th, 1923, one of 12 children of Italian Immigrants Frank and Mary (Sauro) Feraco. Raised and educated in Worcester, she attended Worcester Girls Trade with a focus on sewing and became an exceptional seamstress. A member of the “Greatest Generation”, Eva did her part during World War II, working as a seamstress and floor Lady for the Worcester Slitting Company and Carl Burke & Company making Army Blankets for the troops.
In 1962, Eva married the Love of her life, Rudolph A. “Rudy” D’Acri. They built their home in Worcester, surrounded by family and friends in the neighborhood, together in Love for the next 52 years before Rudy passed away May 17, 2014.
Never blessed with children, Eva and Rudy lived a life of love and devotion, with family all around them. They believe and treated their numerous nieces and nephews as their children with love and guidance. Eva was at her happiest moments during the holidays, special occasions, and family dinners when all their loved ones could be around her.
Eva is survived by her brother, Frank Feraco, Jr.; Numerous nieces, nephews who loved her dearly, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband Rudy, four brothers, Vincent “Pat”, Michael, Joseph, and William “Bill” Feraco, and six sisters, Louise and Jessie Carlo, Louisa, Anna and Rosie Feraco and Gloria Roberts, all predeceased her.
Eva was a member of Our Lady of Loreto. An exceptional seamstress, knitter, master baker and cook, She and her sisters, Annie and Rosie hosted all the family holidays, notably baking and cooking all the families favorite Italian delicacies. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing and the trips to the casino.
Eva’s family would like to thank the Compassus Hospice of Auburn for the care, comfort, and compassion they gave to Aunt Eva during a difficult time.
A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, April 22nd from 10 am to 11 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road. Her Mass of Christian burial will follow at celebrated at 11 am. Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to Why Me Sherry’s House, Make A Wish foundation, 1152 Pleasant St. Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
