Evelyn A. (Sarbentos) Pilat, 91, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away surrounded by family Monday, December 2, 2024. Evelyn was born in Worcester, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Kizys) Sarbentos. Raised in Worcester, Evelyn married the ‘Love of her life” Frederick J. Pilat in August of 1953. They then settled down in the Grafton Hill neighborhood of Worcester to raise their family with faith, family and devotion until Fred left her side March 24th of 2005 after 52 years of marriage. Evelyn continued to lead her family in the Grafton Hill area for the remainder of her life. Evelyn worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for a doctor’s medical practice office before retiring. She previously began her career with Hahnemann hospital.
Evelyn is survived by her four children, Debra Raymond and her husband Richard of Worcester, Glenn Pilat and his wife Kim of Millbury, Dorothy “Dottie” Ducimo, Anita DiPilato and her husband Christopher, all of Worcester; a sister, Sharon Bryant in Arizona; grandchildren Jason, Nicole and husband Brian, Jenna and husband Jahan, Samantha, Christopher Jr, and Kyle; great-grandchildren Madison, Jaylee, Jordyn and Taylor, Javad and Ashkon; great-great grandchild, Valencia; Nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Two sisters, Mary Van Patten and Ann Harris also predeceased her.
Evelyn was a private person who devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a quick wit, enjoyed Myrtle beach in the winter, camping, bingo, Karaoke, playing scrabble, “pole-dancing” (she loved to see people's reaction when telling this story), and her dog and best friend “Patches”. Her greatest moments were those having her family around her. The Pilat family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses on the 6th floor at UMass Memorial Medical Center, the Nurses and Staff at The Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, as well as Lorna at The Christopher House Rehabilitation Center for all their kindness and compassion when caring for mom.
