Frances Terese O'Day

We lost our “Queen Mum”, Frances T. (Reed) O’Day, on Friday, November 20, 2020.  Frances passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family.  “FOD” as she was loving known, will be painfully missed but never forgotten.  Her husband, John F. O’Day, predeceased her in August 1984.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Catherine Evans of Worcester and Sally Dziermejko and her husband Andy of Auburn; four grandchildren, Tiffany Royal and her husband Shawn of Worcester, Jonathan Tantinarawat and his wife Sarah of Okinawa, Japan, Meghan Shanahan and her husband Mark of Auburn, and Sean-Michael Tantinarawat of Fitchburg; six beautiful great grandchildren, Taylor and Shawna Royal, Gabriella and Declan Tantinarawat, and Jackson and Callen Shanahan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved so much.

Frances was the youngest, and last surviving of six children born to Orlo and Catherine (Donoghue) Reed.  She graduated from Commerce High School.  She worked for 28 years at Jamesbury Corporation as a cost accountant, before retiring in 1993.

“FOD” loved a party, the bigger, the better.  She loved being surrounded by family and friends.  Her door was “always open” for visitors.  “FOD” loved to travel, loved going to the ocean with her family, family dinners, and dressing up, always looking beautiful.  She loved her family more than anything and made sure we all knew it and felt it.

The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice staff for all their help and kindness in making “FOD” comfortable.

“FOD’s” favorite phrase was…”I’ll drink to that”…Today we’ll drink to you!

Calling Hours for “FOD” will be on Tuesday morning, November 24, from 10:30 a.m. until 12 Noon.  Followed by a procession to a 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. 

***Social Distancing and the use of face masks will be required at the funeral home and the church.
