Frances M Olson, 91, of West Boylston, passed away with loved ones gathered by her side, Wednesday, September 28,2022 after a period of declining health.
Frances was born in Worcester, the daughter of James and Regina (Gagliano) Catanzaro. She graduated from David Hale Fanning high school , married the “Love of her Life” Robert F. Olson, Sr., they settled in Worcester, to raise their family with love, faith, and family, until Robert, left her side in 2011. Frances continued to be the matriarch of her family.
Frances is survived by her three children, Patricia F. Morrissey and her husband Kevin of Boylston, Robert F. Olson, Jr. and his wife Debra of Millbury, Regina F. Namin and her husband Reza of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; a daughter in law, Kathleen Olson in Holden; brother, Mario Catanzaro of Worcester. A proud grandmother of six, Frances found so much joy with Matthew LeBouef, and his partner Megan, Heather Cruz and her husband Matthew, Brian Morrissey and his wife Lindsey, Thomas Morrissey and his wife Karen, Peter, Timothy and Christopher Olson; four great grandchildren, Mallory, Emery, Addyson, and Isaac; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband Robert in 2011, a son, Francis in 2019, daughter, Joan in 2005, brother, Anthony Catanzaro, and two sisters, Mary Chilorio and Santina Miano, all welcome her into their arms in heaven.
Frances was a parishioner of St Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury. A former parishioner, member and past president of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Golden years, its Choir and Italian Cultural Center. A dedicated wife and mother, nothing in life came before her family. Frances had a gentile, welcoming smile with a huge heart and sense of humor. She loved to place smiles on family and friends, sewing, cooking, baking, singing and being a part of special occasions, holidays and anytime her family could be with her.
A period to gather with the Olson family will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 8:30 to 10:00 am, followed by her funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury. Burial next to her husband and daughter Joan will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to St Anne’s Church Food Pantry, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
