Francis D. Sposato, Jr. 70, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away Monday, December 27th, 2021, after a period of medical challenges.
Francis was known by many names: Fran, Frankie, Dad, Uncle, Grampa. He was born in Worcester, one of four sons of Grace M. (Pedone) Sposato and the late Francis D. Sposato, Sr. He graduated from North High School and Worcester Junior College, and later attended Lowell Technical Institute for a period of time. Fran spent the last 43 years as an employee of the City of Worcester working for the Water Department.
Fran is survived by his three children, Mark F. Sposato and his wife Stacie of Southwick, Jeffrey A. Sposato and his wife Lynsi of Attleboro, Gina T. Kutarnia and her husband Eric of Leominster; his mother, Grace M. (Pedone) Sposato; three brothers, Donald P. Sposato and his wife Nancy of Worcester, John F. Sposato and his wife Sheila of Worcester, and Kenneth J. Sposato and his wife Wendy of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren he dearly loved and found so much joy with, Darren, Kylee, Jaxson, Kayson, Kenziee and Caleb; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Fran is also survived by his former wife and mother of his three children, Patricia A. (Messina) Sposato.
For years Fran called bingo for many parishes in the City of Worcester, including Our Lady of The Rosary and Saint Christopher's Church. Fran enjoyed fishing, the occasional trips to the casino, and yearly camping trips with his family. A dedicated father, Fran’s greatest moments in life were those spent involved in his families’ activities. As his children were growing, Fran devoted his time to coaching youth sports, attending dance recitals and competitions, and being involved in all his children’s activities. In his later life, he loved watching his grandchildren grow. His family always came first.
Calling hours for Fran will be held Monday, January 3rd from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, January 4th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Rosary Church, 35 Fales St where his Mass will be held at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances can be made to Saint John's Food for the Poor, 30 Temple Street, Worcester, MA
