While stationed at a U.S. Army base in Fort Dix, NJ, Frank met Betty in Bordentown, NJ at a dance where they won the jitterbug contest and also won each other’s hearts which led to their marriage in 1953. Frank and Betty moved to Shrewsbury in 1958 and raised three sons who survive them: Frank Jr. of Worcester, Kevin, and Anthony and his long-time partner Judie Morin, all of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law’s, Ann, Dorothy, and Ellen and her husband Richard Hamilton; two grandchildren, Paul and his wife Jen, and Jenna Damon and her husband Spencer; a great granddaughter, Olivia; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Theresa and her husband Ronnie Hebert, and Frances Ann. He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law Paul and his wife Joyce.

As a young man, Frank played the accordion and had his own band. He also began a career as a professional photographer and developed his own pictures. After returning from his enlistment during the Korean War, Frank began his work as a professional baker. Affectionately referred to as “Frank the Baker”, Frank was the Bakery Supervisor for IGA Supermarkets based in Hudson and Marlboro MA for decades. In 1969, while at IGA, a salesman encouraged him to enter Pillsbury’s U.S. Bake-Off which was held for professional bakers from all 50 states. He went on to win Pillsbury’s Grand Prize with his creation of the “Sunshine Coffee Cake”. Frank also managed bakeries for Julio’s Markets and worked with his sons at their bakery until his retirement.

Frank was an avid car racing fan, attending races all over New England and the east coast. He loved his motorhome and took it to many race tracks including his annual trips to Daytona Beach, FL. Frank enjoyed all New England Sports teams especially the Patriots where he was a season ticket holder. He began Patriot’s game tailgating in the 1970’s and continued tailgating, with family and friends, while attending most games until his mid-80’s.

A lifelong early riser, Frank has always enjoyed “going out for breakfast” and enjoyed sharing the experience with family and friends.

Most of all, he loved spending time with family. His infectious smile, bright eyes, kindness, and positive youthful spirit will be greatly missed.
